Nugget Three
This wonderful tiny sculptural object is called Nugget Three. It snuggles into the palm of your hand (and was designed to do so!) It is very tactile with lots of interesting curves and folds for your fingers to explore.
Nugget Three was created using coiling, a fiber technique, and foldforming, a metalsmithing technique. The copper element is foldformed and microfolded and has a lovely heat patina. This element informed the coiled shape around it as I worked to create the form of the overall piece.
The copper element has a clear coat to preserve the heat patina. The coiling was done with colored wire over hook-up cable. The colored copper wire has a tarnish resistant finish.
This vessel is signed with my initials "SLS" and the year completed.
Size: 2 1/8" w x 1 1/2" d x 1 1/2" h
Materials: copper, colored copper wire, stranded hook-up cable
