artist statement
Process, technique, form, and texture fuel my creative drive. I create contemporary wire basketry and studio jewelry using an eclectic mix of metalsmithing, woven metal, and crocheted wire in my work.
My work blends simplicity of form with intricate textural details, much like the discoveries in nature that inspire me – lacy yet simple decomposing leaf forms or the husks of seed pods with smooth inner and rough outer surfaces. The relationship of different textures plays a significant role in my work – contrasting and complimentary textures add to the visual and tactile experience.
